Cool Family History Facts

  • My 11th great-grandfather Councilor William Farrar is my gateway ancestor to King Edward III. William's great-grandson (my 9ggf Thomas Farrar's nephew) George Farrar (s/o William III s/o Col. Wm. II s/o Councillor William) is the ancestor of author Harper Lee (my 8c3r) and actresses H. Dakota Fanning and her sister M. Elle Fanning (my 11th cousins)
  • I know the names to all 32 of my 3rd great-grandparents
  • Of my 4th great-grandparents, only five (two couples and an unknown Jane Doe) are unknown, however I know they're locations of birth thanks to census records
  • My great-grandfather Doyle Carter is the 1st cousin to Baseball player Ernie White.
  • My dad was born with the Surname Thomas (having never met his bio dad) and was adopted by a Carter when he was 8 yoa. Meaning that my blood paternal lineage from my paternal grandfather and beyond is NOT Carter, but Thomas.
  • My ancestor with the coolest name to say (and a tongue-twister!) is my 6th great-grandfather Barnett Burnett. His mother was a Barnett who married a Burnett!
  • Two of my four biological great-grandfathers were United States Privates in World War II. PGF's dad was Marines, while MGF's dad was Army.

Wikitree Contributions

Since December 2015, AJ possibly holds the honor of being the youngest Wikitree genealogist. Despite his age, he researches his ancestry with high exuberance. He has been involved in the President's Project, a few sourcers challenges, and Data Doctors. Also, he played a small role in the Sourcers' challenge for the Carolinas.

Life Goals

Ashton's plan for the future is to work in the business industry, earn his DBA (Doctorate in Business Administration) and start his own business. He is currently a student at Bob Jones University. When he reaches his 50's, he plans on coming back to Bob Jones University to be a part of the faculty for the School of Business.

Name

AJ's name is actually Ashton J. Carter. A.J. stands for his first and middle initials. AJ got his middle name from his maternal grandfather, Arthur Jacob "Jake" Coble, Jr. Jake was (obviously) named after his father, Arthur Jacob Coble, who in turn, was named after his great-grandfather stonecutter and Civil War Private Jacob S. Coble.

AJ's first name came from his mother's friend, Marc Ashton Sadler.

Hello Ashton,

After some discussion on Neurodivergents as a category, I have now started it. The existing category Aspergers has been moved under Neurodivergents. Just fyi 🤓

Ashton, thanks for adding my distant cousin, Sarah Granger (Williams) Garfield (1873-1945) to WikiTree. I've expanded her biography.

Please consider changing your personal profile privacy settings to "Private with Public Tree" - so people like me can see if you're related to us. Of course, I fully respect your preference not to make the change as well.

Best, Kevin

Thank you, Margaret. I just did it to the best of my ability. This is my first time doing an infobox for a city. Make sure I got it right please! Thank you! :)

Ashton,

I see you merged two of the mothers of Gilbert Teit's children into one person (Unknown (Unknown) Teit (abt.1590-)). Unfortunately there is no proof that they were the same person and you have left one child with no father, which is incorrect. The situation was discussed in several comments on the profile. As I am relatively new to Wikitree I don't understand how or why you did this and I don't know how to reverse it without spending a long time changing all the entries manually. Could you please reverse your actions?

Ashton, thanks for bringing Frances Barnett Burnett (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Barnett-2567) to the attention of the US Southern Colonies project as a profile in possible need of project management. What she really needs is research as the profile is wholly unsourced and effectively empty. I'll add the pertinent category in hopes of getting her on the radar of the appropriate project team. But if you can add any details, please feel free to do so. Thanks.

Who is Smith-70993? Why do you want to merge him with my Smith-12312? My Smith is Cameron Albert Smith (1924 - 1943) who died in WWll at the age of 18. Who is yours?

Hi Ashton. Regarding your message on Carter-4277 William Carter Jr. died with out issue. Thank You for the reference you provided. That info is in the listed source Hunnicutt-HiersandRoots.com. and the source by Birdie. Thank You so very much for contacting me , I appreciate it . Carter-1839 is from a different set of Carter. I once managed as one of those profiles. They can be confusing . I think Cynthia B. is working on them.

How are you related to the Blakely McCorriston families?
This is the same family because I knew Minnie Ledbetter Carter personally. We called her Aunt Meady. I may have a copy of her death certificate.

AJ, I saw your post over at Carter Name Study. I created that page mostly to give access to my DNA results to anybody who needed it for Carter or associated family research.

I am related to different families of Carters matrilineally and patrilineally. There are Y DNA up to 111 points, AuDNA, and mtFull.
