Carter-33905 and Carter-7600 appear to represent the same person because: The birth year of Carter-33905 is listed as ~1790 because the actual birth date is not known but later Census data (1830-1860) shows his age and that consistently matches the year 1790. The birth year of Carter-7600 was taken from the first draft of his father's 1794 will and is meant to represent the absolute latest year that Carter-7600 could have been born and still be known to his father for inclusion in his will. Carter-33905 (my 3rd GGF) would have been 3 or 4 when Peter Carter's will was written and 10 or 11 when he died in 1801.

--Both men were born in Loudoun County, VA. --My brother's Y-DNA matches Carter-33905 as well as Thomas Carter, the 3rd GGF of Carter-7600. --Carter-33905 did not inherit any land as he was not the oldest son so he moved 1 county over (Frederick County, VA), began working on and then managing a plantation, met and married his wife and then had his own family. Carter--7600 was the youngest son of a very large family with 5 or 6 additional brothers/half brothers who lived to adulthood. As mentioned in his father's will, Carter-7600 inherited a slave. --At least 2 of the brothers of Carter--7600 lived in Frederick County, VA prior to 1810, the same time Carter-33905 moved there. --The marriage bond for Carter-33905 was not signed by a family member because all of his family had moved away by 1815. The family of Carter--7600 moved to 3 counties in Kentucky as well as Bloomington, IN prior to 1815. ---Carter-7600's younger sister, Ann (Carter-2573) moved to Frederick County (where Carter--33905 was living) and married a Carter from another line. The married in 1815 and moved to Bloomington, IN. Carter--33905 had no family in Frederick County once he married and had his own family.

I believe that Carter--7600 is my 3rd GGF and his profile should be merged with Carter--33905, the profile I started to represent my 3rd GGF, James Carter.

William,

I believe that this James Carter is the same as Carter-33905, who is my 3rd GGF, born ~1790 in Loudoun County, VA. Not only does my family's Y-DNA match the line going back to Thomas Carter (1630-1700) but my research indicates that the timeline for James Carter and his siblings match my James Carter. I would like to merge these two profiles in order to link the rest of my line to Peter Carter and Hannah Whaley. Any objections?
