DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Shadrack by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Shadrack:
The two Shadracks should NOT be merged. THIS Shadrack was the son of Jesse Thomas Carter (see above) The son of Samuel is attached to the wrong father. I am not sure how to proceed.
It looks like FamilySearch has 2 different Shadracks with the exact same vitals. The marriage in Nelson county KY https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5ZD-G42?from=lynx1UIV8&treeref=GWF9-G1L in 1798 is contemporary with the family of Nelson county VA Shadrack Carter, who had a different family with a different wife at the same time. It could be possible that it is the same individual with 2 separate wives but that would put the mother of Fredrick Cabell Carter (see other profile in merge) as Sukey Cosenbury (unless the two wives were simultaneous). The 2 profiles in the pending merge also share the same vitals and may well be the same person but the Shadrack who married Sukey in KY is probably a different person (though probably not with DOB and DOD of the familysearch profile. Those are more likely the vitals for the Virginia Shadrack)
This Shadrack is attached to the wrong father (see note above) and the actual Shadrack, who is the son of Corporal Samuel Carter, DAR Patriot is attached to the wrong father, too.
I asked a G2G question, but as you can see by the answers, the problem has not been understood. See: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1533033/father-of-shadrack-b-a-carter?show=1533046#a1533046
https://www.ancestry.com/genealogy/records/shadrack-carter-24-w081n: indicates that Shadrack was the son of Jesse Thomas Carter and Susan Satterwhite and shows that he was married three times.
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/GWF9-G1L: Susannah S. Cosenbury (aka "Sukey") marries Shadrack on May 17, 1798
Any reason that he should remain attached to Samuel as father?
This Shadrack is attached to the wrong father (see note above) and the actual Shadrack, who is the son of Corporal Samuel Carter, DAR Patriot is attached to the wrong father, too.
