Biography

Harry William. Carter was born on 7 September 1787 at Canterbury in Kent and baptised at St Mildred in Canterbury on 18 October 1787 The son of William Carter and Mary Parry who married on 24 July 1786 at Wingham in Kent ^[1]

He Married Louisa Plumtre At Hackington in Kent on 1 July 1821

Harry William Carter was born at Canterbury on 7 Sep 1787 he was a former fellow at Oriel College, Oxford / After his education at Kings College in Canterbury he went on to Oriel College and graduated B.A. 1807, M.A. 1810. M.B. 1811 and in 1812 was elected a Radcliffe travelling fellow, and spent several years afterwards on the continent. He became a fellow of the London College of Physicians in 1825 he then settled at Canterbury where he was appointed physician to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital in 1819, and retired from practice in 1835, and resided at Kennington Hall . near Ashford and died there on 16 July 1863.

In 1821 Carter published ;A Short Account of some of the Principal Hospitals of France, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands. with remarks on the Climate and Diseases of these Countries He also contributed some essays to the 'Cyclopaedia of Practical Medicine' Dictionary of National Biography, 1885-1900 Volume 09

He married Louisa Plumptre on 1 July 1822 in Hacklington. Kent. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters ^[2]

He died and was buried In Kennington. Kent on 16 July 1863 aged 75
