Biography

Elizabeth was born about 1735 in Richmond County, Virginia. (Birthdate estimated based on husband's birthdate.) Elizabeth is the daughter of Landon Carter and Elizabeth Wormeley. She passed away on May 1, 1787 in Hanover County, Virginia and is buried in Airwell Cemetery, Beaverdam, Hanover County.[1]

Colonial Families of the Southern States of America by Stella Pickett Hardy p:120 [1] "Elizabeth Wormley was a Revolutionary heroine. She saved the Communion Silver of the Parish Church from capture by Terleton and his men."

Elizabeth married Nelson Berkeley on 11 March 1756 in Wise County, Virginia.[citation needed]
