Nancy Ann (Carter) Blankenship is named in the Will of her father, William Carter, a large tobacco plantation owner, who died in 1812, in Prince Edward County, Virginia.

• I give my Daughter Nancy Blankenship one negroe woman named Beck & child Betty with her future increase to her heirs forever.

Ann Carter, daughter of William, married Able Blankenship in 1791, in Prince Edward County, Virginia. ^[1]

"Nancey" and Abel are found in the death records for their son, David A. Blankenship, who died at the age of 78 years, on April 19, 1880, in DeKalb county, Tennessee. ^[2]

It has been reported that Nancy married twice, but the date of this supposed 2nd marriage (after 1819) does not correspond with the Power of Attorney dates.
