The Nicholas Carter who was born and died in Ireland was not the father of John and Samuel Carter of Elizabethtown, NJ. Their correct father is Nicholas Carter Sr. , who died in Elizabethtown in 1681 with son John named as estate administrator. He was one of the original freeholders there and is amply documented as a prominent citizen of early New Jersey. In addition to John and Samuel, he had a son Nicolas born in America as well as a daughter Elizabeth. See Cory genealogy and Hatfield's History of Elizabeth.

Further Explanation,

Sir, I'm not sure if you are upset and changing to all caps to show this or if its just a mistake. Either way this is no big deal, certainly nothing to get upset over.

I sent you three sources showing birth date of 1630 with the same names and the same places with the same wife/mother. Now while I agree there could be multiple Nicholas Carters in Dublin even in the mid-17th century I highly doubt there was more than one with a wife, Mary (of Drogheda), with the son named Nicholas. I know the profiles do not include all this info, however, the sources cited on both profiles seem represent the same person and both profiles are lacking information.

Nicholas Carter (1665-1733) Appears to be correct in source as well as content and completeness. However, his linked father Nicholas Carter (abt.1642-) has a birthdate that is incorrect. If you have a primary source showing a 1642 Birthdate for a Nicholas Carter in Dublin please share this as the linked sources do not seem to work. Nicholas Carter (1630-1681) Has the correct birthdate, correct wife, correct location, but sons that match an English Carter.

It appears we have a compounding of unsourced errors and a merger would kill two birds with one stone. However, Forgoing a merger the Birthdate of of Nicholas Carter (abt.1642-) is mistaken or we have conflicting sources.

Please review this information and let me know if you have any questions or further information.

Carter-6771 and Carter-855 were both married to the same woman according to the sources listed on profiles (while neither have a complete profile). The sources forCarter-6771 are inaccessible I'm assuming they are correct as they reflect other sources such as those listed below. The common link Carter-855 has to Carter-6771is quite frankly everything, except the 1642 Birth which is not cited. If there is indeed that evidence that there was a Nicholas Carter, b.1642 as you suggested, then by all means, he should have a separate profile. However, the evidence reflects that many of his attributes belong with the Nicholas Carter (b.1630), Spouse Mary of Drogheda and children John, Nicholas and Samuel.

Additionally If you contend there was a Nicholas Carter (b.1642), father of Nicholas, please provide source for 1642 birth.
