Research Notes

Some secondary sources suggest Roger's father was Godefroi, however no primary sources are given to support this.

Roger's name is included on the 'Dives Roll', a version of the Battle Abbey Roll erected in the church of Dives, a small seaport on the Normandy coast. This list was compiled eight centuries after 1066 by Leopold Delisle, an eminent antiquarian authority in France. However no authority is cited for the names on the list and therefore Roger's involvement in the Battle of Hastings must be considered doubtful[1].
