Biography
When Van Buren Cartrette was born on February 7, 1899, in Columbus County, North Carolina, his father, John, was 40 and his mother, Sarah, was 37. He had eight brothers and six sisters. He died on October 24, 1918, in Concord, North Carolina, at the age of 19, and was buried in Clarendon, North Carolina.
