When John Oliver Cartrette was born on March 31, 1886, in North Carolina, his father, John, was 27 and his mother, Sarah, was 24. He married Violia Cartrite on October 10, 1906. He died on February 9, 1958, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, at the age of 71.
