Biography

Catharine Charlotte Cartwright was born in about 1824. She was the daughter of William Bentley Cartwright of Stroud, Gloucestershire.

Catharine married William Seth Smith on 21 Sep 1847 in Stroud district. They had thirteen children.

Their daughter Susan Smith was born on 9 Feb 1849, and died on 23 Feb the same year.

Their daughter Rose Kate Smith was born on 6 Feb 1850.

Their son William Howard Seth Smith was born on 23 Aug 1852.

Their son Newton Seth Smith was born on 23 Feb 1854.

Their son Frank Seth Smith was born on 15 Sep 1855.

Their daughter Sarah Annette Smith was born on 9 Feb 1857.

Their daughter Helena Elizabeth Smith was born 12 Jan 1859.

Their daughter Beatrice Mary Smith was born 18 Aug 1860.

Their son Wilfrid Seth Smith was born 6 Oct 1861 and died in infancy.

Their son Walter Seth Smith was born 3 Apr 1863.

Their daughter Ethel Margaret Smith was born 13 Sep 1864.

Catharine died 20 Mar 1872, at her home, Tangley, Wonersh, aged 48. She was buried on the 25th in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the unconsecrated section.
