Biography

William Adolphus Carty, son of Clarence and Joanna Carty, was christened in the Lutheran Church on 5 June 1874.[1]

William married Amanda Stark in New York in 1899.[2] The couple had moved to Oregon by 1910[3], and William seems to have lived there the rest of his life. William is listed as divorced on the 1930 census[4], but he still shares a headstone with Amanda[5] and was living with her a year before her 1921 death[6]; perhaps the census is in error, or perhaps he had a short second marriage after Amanda's death.
