Life
Isabelle was born in the 1980ies and is doing genealogical research at least since 2002, when she first had free access to the internet. Her genealogical interest started in early 5th grade at age 11, when she had to draw a family tree in history class. She wondered if three generations would be all?
After one school year in Eastbourne, East Sussex in England, Isabelle completed her 3-years apprenticeship in 2006 and is since then working as a librarian. In her free time she is sewing historical clothes for Live Action Role Playing, doing genealogy and collecting books (sometimes also reading books, but those are two completely different hobbies).
Her place of origin (Heimatort) is Sumiswald in Canton Bern, Switzerland.

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.
If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.
In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.
Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.
We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.
I. Caruso reached the Golden Achievement milestone by sourcing at least one profile in every month of the 2022 Sourcerers Project Sourcerers' Challenge.
We appreciate your consistent work in improving WikiTree through the Sourcerers Project in 2022!
This is Chris from the Italy Project. As part of the annual project check-in, can you fill in the project survey? This will let us know that you are still interested in the project and which teams you'd like to participate in.
Thank you for contributing to the January 2022 Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your own family history to help others.
Hi, I'm still learning what the recommendations for categories in the Italian project. Recently you changed two person's biographies and I'd like to learn about the differences are there so that I will better follow the categorization goals of the project.
Thank you,
Anna
Initially the category sequence in the biography was this:
Category: Campania, Italy
Category:Città metropolitana di Napoli
Category: Province of Naples
Italian Roots Sticker
Biography
The categorization is now:
Category:Città metropolitana di Napoli
Biography
Italian Roots Sticker
Thank you for your message. What you posted with "… has Italian roots" is a sticker. The sticker(s) should be listed after the "Biography", while categories should be listed before the "Biography". Just to keep it more clearly arranged, I suppose.
As for the categories in the Italy project: we try to add location categories to all Italian profiles for every location a person has lived (was born, married, died or had children or just lived). As many locations don't have their location category yet, I'm going through all of them and we will add a new created category to at least one profile. This means we will be adding location categories to some random profiles that have the location mentioned.
The lowest level categories should be "comune, provincia" and we decided to do those in Italian. So I changed some categories from English to Italian.
Does this answer your question? If not, could you please post the profiles that I changed, so I can have a closer look?
- deleting the "Category: Campania, Italy", as we add the lowest possible category if possible. So we would add town/comune if known, and if not known we can add the provincia or region category. So this category is not used if the lower category is used as below.
- I changed the "Category: Province of Naples" to today's name "Category:Città metropolitana di Napoli". I used the Italian name, but all provinces, all Metropolitan Cities and all regions are available in English as well, so it doesn't matter which one you add. Just the comunes are all in Italian, as it would be too much work to do them in two languages as well.
- As I was already on the profiles, I moved the "Italian Roots" sticker under the "Biography" title, where it should be according to the WikiTree style guides. Nothing serious and we can't really see it, but I change it if I'm working on a profile for another reason. Some profiles have many categories and stickers and a long biography, so following this order make the profiles easier to work on.
Hi, you recently sent a number of categories to be renamed, however you hadn't created the new categories for the profiles to be moved to. I have done those so the renaming can proceed, however the creation of the new category, if it does not already exist, is the responsibility of the member instigating the rename. See this category, Category: Sorrento, Naples, the link for the new category should be green (category exists), not red (doesn't exist).
Thanks for your help,
Regards, Margaret, Categorization project volunteer.
Thank you for your message and for creating the categories. I didn't know that the new category to which the old one should be renamed, has to be created by the asking member. I just followed the steps at the help page.
Of course I will create them myself for the remaining categories.
What is the best way to proceed then? Do you know what is technically the difference between renaming and merging?
Hi I, thanks for your reply. Renaming is the preferred option, merging requires more manual input from the categorization team and is hardly ever used. I believe it was the only option before renaming was developed. Both require the new target category to be created. I developed this help page for our Australia Project members, you might find it useful. If you follow all the steps as written, you'll get the right result. Regards, Margaret.
The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.
Are you currently working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? If not, take a look at our main Project page for a full list.
We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.
Hi Chris! Thank you for the update. As I'm in the team that translates the German help pages, I don't have time for another project right now. But please feel free to ask again. Later I might be interested in joining a team and working on profiles in the Molise region of Italy.
Ciao! This is just a general check-in for members of the Italy project. I am checking to see who is still interested in being a member of the project as we go through some much needed restructuring. I was also wondering what teams you would like to be on. We’ve created teams for each part of Italy. North, South, Islands etc. They will be explained further in an upcoming g2g post. Stay tuned. For now, please let me know if you are still interested in the project and if you’d like to be a member of a team.
Thank you so much for the extensive investigation and excellent and exact summaries you made. I was astonished to get to know so many new details about my ancestors.

Because Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within a project coordinating them is essential. Please ensure location data matches date of profile and avoid abbreviations.
