Biography

There are disproven, disputed, or competing theories about this person's parents. See the text for details.

Christopher was born in 1705.

Disputed Parents

This Christopher Carver is not the son of John & Isabelle (Weldon) Carver. Sources have him born in 1705 or 06. This relationship is repeated on Ancestry.com and various other pedigrees online. The original source for this person seems to be the LDS records (IGI, Pedigree Resource File - see below).

I don't believe that Christopher is the son of John & Isabelle.

Isabelle Weldon & John Carver
Married in 1716; Lived in Byberry, Philadelphia Co.; Children: John Carver b.1717; Ann Carver b.1719/20; Isaac Carver b.1722

This family is well documented in the records of the Abington and Byberry meeting (Quaker) and other records. Being Quakers, it is unlikely they had a child a decade prior to marriage. In addition, John & Isabelle appear in Byberry, whereas Christopher is associated with Lancaster which is some 80miles away.

Current Wikitree info (and repeated elsewhere)

Christopher Carver (Carver-1460); h/o Nancy Draper; Born 1705 in Lancaster, said to be son of John & Isabelle Carver
Nancy Draper (Draper-689) married to Christopher Carver (Carver-1460) mother of Christopher C. Carver (Carver-1459)
Christopher Carver (Carver-1459) f/o Joseph & David Carver h/o Elizabeth Wisenhunt / Whisenhunt

These seem to be the original source of the information:
LDS Records @ Family Search

Christopher Carver 1(three Pedigree Resource File records)b.1705 Lancaster PA, father John Carver, mother Isabel Welding, child Christopher Carver
also listed:
Christopher Carver 2: (one Ancestry File Record / Three Pedigree Resource File records) born 1706, Lancaster PA", with child Cornelius Carver
Elizabeth Ann Whisenant; d/o Christopher Columbus Whisenant & Priscilla Wells; (3 Pedigree Resource; 2 IGI records)
Nancy Draper (1740-1832), North Carolina; wife of William Moulsby Carver; Many children listed

Carver DNA Project, Patriarch Page
The Family Patriarch Christopher Carver (1756)* from the Carver DNA Project http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/carver/pats shows:

Christopher Carver b.1756 Lancaster, PA m. Elizabeth Whisenhunt
David C. Carver b. Lincoln Co, NC m. Mahala Cooper

This line seems to have been studied by Family researcher "DiannaT". She also disputes the connection to John & Isabell. See the http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/CARVER/2007-09/1190961885 discussion at Rootsweb].

Other works including "A History of the Townships of Byberry and Moreland" that list John & Isabelle, do not include a Christopher with the family.

I have not been able to find any record of Christopher 1705/06; or of his marriage to Nancy Draper. Powell-5629 20:24, 6 December 2014 (EST)

Removing Weldon-391 & Carver-622 as parents after conversation with Rodger. Powell-5629 01:02, 16 January 2015 (EST)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Christopher by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Christopher:

Roger - I've checked from 1690 - 1750 and I can find no items regarding a "Christopher Carver"; especially with the parentage of John and Isabelle (Weldon) Carver in either Ancestry or Family Search nor do I see any reference to him in the Quaker records I have previewed. Would you mind detaching him from Isabelle until such time as his existence is verified? Thanks. Stradling-375 18FEB2023
