This conjecture is based on marriage/baptismal records from 1755/56 in Delaware for a Thomas Shannon and his wife Johanna Cary and daughter Eleanor.
No further records are found for this family in that region, but in 1767 the family of a Thomas Shannon, who later migrates to Georgia, is found in Pittsylvania County, VA. This area was on the south western Virginia frontier near where the 'Great Wagon Road' passed into North Carolina.
The names Thomas, Eleanor and Hanna show up later in a will in Wilkes Country Georgia.
DAR records have Eleanor, wife of Thomas of Wilkes co., as a Ringey. I have never found any documentation on the source for this information. If anyone does, other than online family trees and DAR records, please contact me.
The Records of Holy Trinity (Old Swedes) Church, Wilmington, Del., from 1697 to 1773 "Child Elenor, born August 31, 1755, baptized August 22d; parents, Thomas and Johannah Shannan.
