Benedetto lo Cascio is born and baptized 30 July 1830. He is the son of Girolamo lo Cascio and Biagia Guzzetta. His godparents are Domenico and Bernarda Trumbatore, a married couple.
Benedetto and his wife, Maria Terregrossa, stand as godparents to Anna Cortimiglia, the daughter of Josepho Cortimiglia and Antonina Gennaro, on 24 November 1855.
Benedetto and Maria have four known children: Girolamo (1856), Francesco (1859), Biagia (1862), and Giuseppa (1865).
Girolamo is born and baptized Hieronymum on 8 November 1856, named after his paternal grandfather. His godparents are Giusepe di Miceli and Caterina Salemi.
Ten days later, Benedetto and Maria stand as godparents to another Girolamo Cascio, the son of Calogero Cascio and Gaetana (Cajetana) Sanzone, Benedetto's brother and his wife.
On 30 December, they stand as godparents to Francisca Terrusa, daughter of Vincenzo Terrusa and Lucia Campagna.[1]
A year later, on 3 January 1858, they stand as godparents to Josephus Pecorino, son of Giovanni Pecorino and Pasqua Gagliano.
On 18 April, they stand as godparents to Leoluca Nicastro, son of Salvatore Nicastro and Francesca Paola di Bella.
A year later, on 18 May 1859, Benedetto and Maria baptize their son, Francesco. His godparents are Matteo Troja and Erasma, his sister.
On Biagia's birth record (b. 11 June 1862), Benedetto is recorded as a “villico”---farmer----of 32 years old, living on Via P. Leonardo in Corleone, and Maria is 21 years old. Biagia is named after her paternal grandmother.
Giuseppa is born 26 January 1865 and baptized the next day as Josepham. Her godfather is the unmarried Leoluca di Miceli.
Benedetto Cascio dies at age 43 (reportedly, age 45) on 8 May 1874. There are two records of his death: in the civil record, he's listed again as villico, his age is given as 45, and it's noted that he is still married to Maria Terregrossa. He died at his home on via Pipa in Corleone. Both records agree on the names of his parents, of his wife, and his date of death.
Giuseppa marries Basilio Lo Presto 28 November 1886. They have at least five children together.
In 1887, Girolamo marries a woman with a name very similar to his mother's: Maria Teresa Terregrossa. They go on to have at least three children.
In the 15 Sept 1890 marriage registry of Francesco Cascio and Vincenza Mannina, Francesco and his parents are all three listed as contadino/a, "peasant." (His father, of course, has passed away.)
