Biography

Salvatore Cascio is born and baptized 23 December 1817. He is the son of Leoluca Cascio and Maria Puccio. His godparents are Maestro Giuseppe and Giacinta Valenti, a married couple.

By 1838, his mother, Maria, has died and his father has remarried, to Gaetana Saccaro.

Salvatore marries Calogera Catanzano on 26 November 1842.

Salvatore and Calogera have at least six children together: two daughters named Maria (1843 and 1855), Michaelangelo (1848), two sons named Leoluca (1845 and 1850), and two sons named Salvatore (c. 1856 and 1857).

The first daughter named Maria, after Salvatore's mother, is born 26 September 1843 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Giuseppe Dragna and Maria (her last name is hard to read. Looks like Ristin. May be Russo or Gristina.) Maria dies on 28 August 1844 at eleven months of age.

The first son named Leoluca, after Salvatore's father, is born 4 July 1845 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Antonino Diana and Mattea Ciavarello, a married couple.

Michaelangelo is born and baptized on 8 May 1848. His godparents are Giuseppe Cusimano and Santa Cutrono, who are not married.

Leoluca dies on 19 January 1849 at three and a half years of age.

Michaelangelo dies on 21 July 1849 at fourteen months of age.

The second son named Leoluca is born 7 July 1850 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Giuseppe Ciancimino and Gaetana Liggio, a married couple.

The second daughter named Maria is born and baptized Mariam 16 February 1855, goddaughter of Salvator Finocchio and Lucia Lorino.

The first son named Salvatore is known only from the record of his death, on 19 September 1856. This record calls his mother Calogero Lanzaro.

Salvatore dies, reportedly at age 30 (he is 39) on 3 September 1857. The record of his death does not indicate that either of his parents have already died: his father survives until at least 1872. His mother dies in 1838.

The second son named Salvatore is born a month later, on 6 October, and baptized Salvatorem the next day. His baptismal record does not indicate that his father has passed away. His godparents are Franciscus Glaviano and Rosaria lo Piccolo.

The second Salvatore dies on 25 July 1858 at ten months of age.

The surviving Leoluca marries Bernarda Mirabile on 13 September 1874.

Calogera dies at age 56 (b. 1823) on 19 July 1879. She has remarried and is survived by her second husband, Francesco Russo.
