Biography

Michael Peek Case, 66, husband of Sylvia “Sam” Smith Case, passed from this life Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, he is a son of the late Dr. George Franklin Case, Jr. and Nancy Peek Case.

Michael was many things to many different people. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, a teacher with Pickens County School District, founder of b o r d e r c r o s s Christian Fellowship and The Iron Horse coffee house that reached local teens through music. He wrote a column for the Pickens Sentinel, “The WoodLander” in the 1980’s. Michael had a heart to reach others and meet them where they were. Michael had an interest in philosophy, theology and politics. Michael had a great love of music, books, writing and was also known to be a deep thinker.

Survivors include his wife Sam of 43 years of the home, sons; Isaac Franklin Case (Amanda) of Pickens, Adam Case (Shawn) of Easley, grandchildren; Daniel Case, Jackson Case, Sawyer Case, Benjamin Case, Leila Case and Rachael Case, a sister Anne LaBoon (Bert), brothers; Reverend David Case (Pat) and George Franklin Case, III (Angie).

Michael was predeceased by his parents, grandparents Harley and Edna Peek, George Franklin Case, Sr. and Minnie Bagwell Case, twin daughters; Leila Jade Case and Rachel Elaine Case and a grandchild Emery Case.

Visitation will be 1 pm until 2:45 pm Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with the service will follow at 3 pm in the church. The burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Mission Fund, 4174 Dacusville Highway, Easley, South Carolina 29640.

The family is at the home.
