Biography

Born 28 NOV 1872. Chicago, Cook, Illinois. [1][2]

Married Husband Nathan Scarritt. Wife Eva Case. 6 JUN 1901. Jackson County, Missouri. [3] [4]

Notes

From her husbands pension file, under "remarks" it says died Oct 21, 1931, Independence, MO, which appears to refer to Eva. However, she is listed as a living descendant of M/M Wm C. Scarritt in July 1934.

There is an Evalin Case W F Nov 1873 26 S IL CT CT sister of Julia E. Spaulding W F July 1859 40 Wd MI CT CT living in 14th ward of Kansas City in 1900 that is probably her. (p. 89, sht 1A, ed 132, taken June 1, 3906 Winsor Ave, plus 3 Spaulding children, L. Ruth Nov. 1884, Charles A. Sept 1887, and Louis W. Sept 1890).

Missouri Death Records online has a Chas A. Spaulding d. 24 May 1898 aged 41 of pneumonia at 3906 Windsor in Jackson Co, which would be Julia's husband. There is no death record for Julia however.

From the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index: SPAULDING, CHARLES A -- CASE, JULIA E 1880-09-13 / 00048407 COOK.

In 1880, Evalina Case, F, 7, IL CT Unk, was listed in the household of Alonzo J. (60 NY VT VT) and Julia A. (53 CT CT CT) Strong in Somerset, Hillsdale Co., MI. Her relationship is not stated. (roll 581, p. 298, sht 19C, ed 94, taken June 15-16, 189/196) The family is in the same place in 1870 when he is called James A. String and in 1860. No relationship is obvious. Also in 1880 is Julia E. Case, F, 21, MI MI MI a boarder in Chicago, IL.

I cannot find Julia Case in 1870, nor in 1860.

There is a death record online at seeking michigan for Julia A. Strong of Somerset, MI who died 24 Feb 1898 aged 71y 5m 13d, widow, b. CT, mother of 5 children 3 of whom are living, parents Azarial Smith b. CT and Mary Andrews b. IL. Perhaps Julia (Smith) Strong is an aunt of Eva's, sister to her mother?

From the Kansas City Star of Nov. 25, 1909, p. 6, "A pretty wedding was celebrated last night, 8:30 o'clock, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Scarritt in Independence, Mo., when their niece, Miss Ruth Spaulding, and Mr. Clarence Lupfer North of El Paso, Tex., were united in marriage. The Rev. Charles W. Scarritt performed the ceremony." ... "Little Julia Scarritt carried the ring in a dresden basket filled with roses. Mr. and Mrs. Scarritt were assisted at the reception by: Mrs. E. L. Scarritt, Mrs. Charles W. Scarritt, Mrs. William Scarritt, Mrs. E. R. Hendrix, and Mrs. E. H. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. North left for a Southern wedding journey and will be at home after December 1 in El Paso, Tex."
