Biography

Born at Cronroe House near Ashford, Co. Wicklow [1] and baptized at Nun's Cross in early 1878.

Residence FROM 1905.

Event: Lieutenant in the Royal Navy. Military Service. 1891

1891-1916 commanding officer of the battle cruiser HMS Courageous. Military Service.

1921 commanding officer of the battleship HMS Benbow.

Military Service. 1924 Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V.

Military Service. 1926

Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.). Award 1928

commanding officer of the 3 Battle Squadron 1928-1929. Military Service. 1928

Retirement: from Royal Navy with rank of Admiral. 1931

Died aged 74 of a coronary thrombosis at his home in Ashley Heath, Ringwood, Hampshire [2] and buried at St Peter, Terwick, Sussex. His will was proved in London on 24 April 1952 and in Belfast on 6 August.
