Peter was born in 1851. He was the son of Patrick Casey and Cath Toole of Cabinteely, Kingstown, County Dublin. He was baptized in St. Michael Catholic Church on 6 July 1851 and his sponsors were Michael Kelly and Mary Kelly. [1]
Peter married Eliza, and was living at Kildare St by 1911 and worked as a porter.
On 30 September 1877 in Ballybrack, County Dublin, Peter Casey, of Dalkey, son of Patrick Casey and Catherine Toole of Ballybrack, married Elizabeth Merriman, of Dalkey, daughter of Michael Merriman and Anne Thompson of Lucan. Witnesses at the wedding were Walter Walshe and Mary Anne Walshe of Stephenstown, Dublin. [2]
In 1901, Peter and Elizabeth were living at 7 Montague Lane, Mansion House, Dublin. They had six children living with them at that time: Michael, 20; Patrick, 19; Mary, 18; Catherine, 16; Anne, 14; Peter, 11. Peter was working as a bunk porter. Their two oldest sons are listed as printers (Michael and Patrick) and Catherine was a stamper, Anne an apprentice, and Peter a scholar (still going to school at age 11) [3]
By 1911, Peter and Eliza only had three children still living with them: Patrick, 29, printer at Works; Kathleen, 26, keeps house; and Annie, 24, relief stamper. [4] Note that Peter's name is scratched out on the form, and Eliza is listed as head of the family. This suggests he was already in the hospital at this point, since census day was 2 April 1911.
Peter passed away on 22 October 1911 in the Cork Street Hospital in Dublin. He had been sick for 12 days before passing (Crysipclas ?) [5]
