Obituary

The Buckingham Post, July 6, 1923

A severe shock came to the family of Mr. Patrick Gorman when his beloved wife passed away early Tuesday morning June 26th The late Mrs. Gorman was ill but three weeks and was cared for by her two daughters, who contributed every possible attention that could be given a beloved mother. Four days previous to her death all hopes of recovery were lost when death gradually overtook her. The deceased before her marriage was Theresa Casey and was in her 55th year. Being born in Mayo, Quebec, where she spent her early childhood coming to Glen Almond after her marriage where she lived for the past thirty years. She leaves to mourn her great loss, her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Wallingford of Ottawa, Theresa of Water Street Hospital, Ottawa, and Mabel at home - three sons Edmund of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Lambert of Montreal, and Joseph at home. Two sisters, Mrs. Burke of Mayo, Quebec, Miss F. Casey of Regina, Sask, two brothers, John and James Casey of Star City, Saskatchewan. The funeral left the house at 9 am Friday and was one of the largest attended for years, showing how highly esteemed she was by her many friends. A Requiem High Mass at 11:00 a.m. was held at St. Gregory's Church. At the close of the mass "Nearer My God to Thee" was sung by Rev. Bro. Salvius. From thence the remains were interred in the family plot. The Pall-Bearers were six nephews: G.N. Brewer, Victor and Dan Smith, Anthony Burke, Charles Gorman and Albewrt Lemieux. Among those present were Rev. Father Matthew Gorman, Rev. Father Gerald Gorman, Mr. and Mrs. J. Gorman, Mr. and Mrs. M. Gorman, Mrs. W.J. Martin, Dr. G.M. Martin and Mrs. James Gorman.
