Biography

John Cassidy was a convict after the Third Fleet.

John Cassidy [1]is described as a 'transport' convicted for 7 years for secreting himself aboard the ship the Fortune on its journey to Australia. [2]

The Fortune arrived in both 1806 and 1813. According to the convict indents of the ship, no John Cassidy was on board either ship, this is not surprising if he was a stowaway. Based on the trial date, it was most likely Fortune 1813.

There is a Thomas Cassidy from Derry, labourer, aged 20 on board the Fortune 1813. Perhaps he is a relative. He was described as 5'7", fair complexion, brown hair and grey eyes. [3]
