James was a convict transported to Australia in 1825 aboard Ann & Amelia, for 7 years. Tried at Dublin. Many of the prisoners aboard this ship were Irish political prisoners.
By 1839, he was married and working at Windsor as a schoolteacher and is still listed there in the 1841 census.
He died in 1847, aged 56 and is buried in the Catholic Cemetery at Windsor, New South Wales along with his wife Esther Elizabeth (1800-1871).
Notes
His wife's maiden name may have been Fox. Possibly a child named Edward also born in Ireland.
