Biography

Thomas Casson was born on 19 Oct 1842 in Toxteth Park, Liverpool, Lancashire, England to William Casson and Frances Galley Day (Jackson) Casson.

Thomas Casson, son of William & Frances, born 19 Oct 1842, was christened on 3 Feb 1843 at St Peter and St Nicholas, Liverpool.[1]

In 1851 Thomas Casson (age 8) lived at Lodge Lane in Toxteth Park Extra Parochial with his father William (37, Magistrate Landowner Turpcaline), mother F G D (30), and five siblings: William (9), Frances (7), Anne (4), Esther (2), and Randel (1), as well as his brother George Casson (48), governess Maria Swan (24), nurse Ann Murthy (44), and two servants: Margaret Madeline (25) and Ellen Werk (26).[2]

In 1861 Thomas Casson (age 18, Student) lived at 2 Belvidere Road in Toxteth Park with his father William (47, Magistrate / Tar Distiller), four siblings: Frances Mary (17, Student), Ann (14, Scholar), Esther (12, Scholar), and Randall (11, Scholar), visitor Amelia Turner (19), and three servants: Jane Kelly (24), Eleanor F Lewis (34), and Sarah Ellis (22).[3]

Thomas Casson married Laura Ann Thomas in 1870. The marriage was registered in Ffestiniog, Merionethshire in the last quarter of the year.[4]

Thomas and Laura had seven children:

In 1871 Thomas Casson (age 28, Banker) lived in Llanfihangel-y-traethau, Merionethshire with his wife Laura A (28), brother Randal (21, Clerk), and servant Ellen Roberts (30).[5]

Thomas was one of the Executors of his father's Will in 1877: "1 August. The Will of William Casson formerly of Plasyn-Penrhyn in the County of Merioneth but late of Betchton House in the Township of Betchton in the County of Chester Esquire who died 3 February 1877 at Dolgelley in the County of Merioneth was proved at the Principal Registry by William Galley Casson of Pwllheli in the County of Carnarvon and Thomas Casson of Denbigh in the County of Denbigh Bank Managers the Sons the Executors. Effects under £5,000."[6]

In 1881 Thomas Casson (age 38, Major of Volunteers / JP / Bank Manager) lived in Denbigh, Denbighshire with his wife Lawra A (37) and five children: Frances W (8, Scholar), William (7, Scholar), Lewis Th (5, Scholar), Esther (3, Scholar), and Randal (2), as well as governess Emma Wraith (23) and four servants: Mary Soper (43, Midwife), Elizabeth Davies (26, Cook), Caroline A Jones (26, Nurse), and Mary Evans (20, Housemaid).[7]

In 1891 Thomas Casson (age 48, Bank Manager) lived at Ruthin Road in Denbigh with his wife Laura Anne (47) and four children: Lewis Thomas (15, Scholar), Randal (12, Scholar), Elizabeth (9, Scholar), and Ann (7, Scholar), as well as servant Jane Roberts (22, General Domestic Servant).[8]

In 1901 Thomas Casson (age 58, Managing Director of Limited Co) lived in Hampstead, London with his wife Laura A (57) and six children: Francis W (28, Teacher at Endorsed School), William (27, Electrical Engineer), Lewis T (25, Secretary of Limited Co), Esther (23, Teacher), Elizabeth (19, Clerk), and Randal (22, Bachelor of Arts Student).[9]

Thomas Casson passed away on 21 Sep 1910, aged 67 years. His death was registered in Brentford, Middlesex in the third quarter of the year.[10]

"CASSON Thomas of 80 Hotham-road Putney Surrey died 21 September 1910 at the Cottage Hospital Brentford Middlesex Administration London 4 January [1911] to Laura Ann Casson widow. Effects £81 12s. 11d."[11]
