Herbert Newton Casson was a Canadian-born journalist and author.
Born in 1869, he was the son of Rev. Wesley Casson, a Methodist missionary, and Elizabeth Jackson. [1]His childhood was spent in Ontario and Manitoba.
After graduating from Victoria College, he moved to Boston in 1893 and started his publishing career. His experiences in the immigrant slums of the city led to his becoming a socialist and moving to the Ruskin Colony, a commune in Tennessee. Presumably it was there that he met his future wife Lydia K. Commander, whom he married in 1899.[2] They moved to New York, where Bert worked as a newspaper journalist.[3]The Romance of Steel, which was published in 1907, was the first of the 168 books on business success that he would write in his lifetime.
The Cassons moved to England in 1914. He died in 1951 in Surrey, England.[4]
