Obituary: AGED NORENE MAN, HURT IN AUTO ACCIDENT, DIES Monterey, Tenn., Jan 22 - (Special: - J.G. Castleman, of Norene, died Tuesday after an illness of three weeks, due to injuries he received in an automobile accident. At the time of his illness and death he was a guest in the home of his son W. T. Castleman, a prominent business man of Monterey. Mr. Castleman, who was about seventy-nine years old is survived by the following children: Mrs. Dora Snyder, of Campaign; Mrs. Callie Jones of Norene; W. T. Castleman, of Monterey; T. A. Castleman, of Lantana; A. R. Castleman, of Belleviue; J. J. Castleman, of Crossville; and F. H. Castleman of Lantana. The Rev. Mr. Steward, of Watertown conducted the funeral at Norene. Buriel was at Notous (?) Cemetery.

In 1860 he was living with his parents and brother and sister in Wilson County. In 1870 he was living with his mother Caroline in the home of his brother James in Wilson County. John is listed in the 1880 census as being a cedar merchant in Wilson County, who is the day of the census home with the flux. John and Nancy are both listed as being able to read.

John's death certificate listed his occupation as a farmer in Putnam County.
