Dear Bill,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in with project members. Please review the following and respond to let us know that you are content with your current team or if you would like to be more involved.

The Project operates in a team structure. There are currently three participant PIP Teams -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.

There are currently three different Biography Teams - The Biography Team, the Abandoned Team, and the Popular Team.

You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team. The Biography Team works on profiles from their watchlist and other profiles that interest them.

Are you happy with the Team you are on? If you are interested in working with a different Team, please let us know.

If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (You will need your Wiki ID for both). Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.

Sincerely,

Debi Hoag and Kay Knight, Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project

Hi Bill,

It is once again time for our annual Scotland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

•If you would like to continue as a project member •If you are happy with your current teams or would you like to join a different team •How much time per month (on average) you spend working on Scottish profiles •Anything you’d like the Scotland Project to do more of in the future

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you are no longer able to participate in the Scotland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

On behalf of the Scotland Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve Scottish profiles!

Sheena - Scotland Project Membership Coordinator

Hi Sheena,

I am still interested! We have a trip to Scotland planned for next summer, and plan to visit some places of my ancestors. Should be fun! Thanks for the note. Bill

It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!

This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months.

In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's ""Year of Connections"" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.

We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:

  • If you have not yet signed up to help on one of the project's teams, which team(s) would you be interested in joining?
  • How often should we provide a Project Newsletter?
  • Have you participated in the Tartan Trail? If not, is this something you'd be interested in doing?
  • Do you have a question(s) that we could add to a Frequently Asked Questions page?
  • Any suggestions or ideas you have on ways to improve the Scotland Project in general

We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.

Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!

Sincerely, Amy Gilpin on behalf of the Scotland Project Leaders

Hello William,

We wrote to you about the changes in the Profile Improvement Project (PIP) a couple of weeks ago. If you would like to continue with the Project, we can place you in the Biography Team, Level 1 where you can work on improving profiles from your own watchlist to Level 1 of the Profile Standards.

We would like to hear from you with any ideas or suggestions. If you do not wish to participate in the Project, please let us know. If we don’t hear from you within 7 days we will remove you from the Project, but we will welcome you back at any time.

Sincerely,

Dear William,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing its first annual check-in with our project members. We are in the process of transitioning to a team structure. There will be three participant PIP Teams to start -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team who guide new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team. Please let us know which team(s) you would like to participate in.

We would also like to invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (When you request to join our GoogleGroup, please be sure to include your Wiki ID). You will find more information on the GoogleGroup.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project and WikiTree. The Project’s mission is to:

Make profiles beautiful! We clean up messy biography sections and sources, and try to set standards for attractive, useful, and well-written biographies, starting with those we manage.

We know you’re working on profiles *smile* We would like to hear about successes you’ve had toward the Project’s goals. We would also appreciate any feedback you might have to help us improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or privately via private message to either of us.

Hello

It’s time for a Project check-in!

Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

Thank you for your messages about Pinkeny-2. I am aware of the Racineshistoire website which makes attractive pedigrees, but it never shows its evidence, and where I have looked into cases it is often wrong. Of course it is no surprise to have mistakes, but if there is no explanation of the sources, it is impossible to use this as an authority.

Do you know any of the medieval evidence which might support any additions or changes to what we have?

re: question about Lt. on Adam Mott-30 According to Mott History from Ancestors & descendants of Sarah Eleanor Ladue by Grant Rideout, 1930; p 122, Adam was commissioned as Lt of Hempstead Militia by Gov. Nicholls on 22 April 1665. Adam is the 3rd ggf of Platt Mott, my step 2nd ggf (Wikitree-550). I've more research which has not been added to wikitree if you'd like to contact me. Hope this helps!

So the unknown unknown was not from my import. The benefit is that his wife has a death date. I'm guessing someone found a Mrs. Coggins wife of John Coggins died in 1692. Assuming it is accurate, it's just a piece to a very distant puzzle!

yes, the web browser could have been the problem, William. Anyway, all's ok now. Have a good evening and thanks for your comments..
William, when I first saw the "background" picture, it was across the entire front of the profile. Perhaps it was at the exact time as you were uploading it? I'm not sure. It's good now though, in the background as you intended.
That okay do you want to be on my team. I have a first cousin that lives in California. Team Tennessee Volunteers would like to invite you to their team. Here our Space Page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Team_Tennessee_Volunteers_2019_Scan_-_A_-_Thon

Would like me to add you to the team free space page and if you do would you send me your email address to me in a private message so I can make you like the fellow team mates a free space page profile manager. Also include on the free space page is a link to G2G chat of the team also. Beverly would you like to join Team Tennessee Volunteers team again. I would be happy to add your name to the team free space page.

Hi William,

Could you please come back to the two profiles you just created Browne-3859 and Tyrwhitt-112. The only sources they have right now is an unsourced Rootsweb profile. Per Help:Pre-1700, "You must never create a pre-1700 profile without citing an original or reliable source." Rootsweb does not appear to meet this criteria. See also Research Before Editing.

Thanks  !
