Formed in 1866.
Present at the Battle of Ridgeway, as the 1st Rifle Company of York, Haldimand. Later gazetted 28 Sep 1866 as the 37th Battalion, Canadian Militia. Companies were located and drill sheds built, at the following places: Cayuga, Caledonia, Hagersville, Ballsville, (The Gore of Oneida) Oshweken, Jarvis, Cheapside, and Dunnville.
The 114th Battalion (Brock's Rangers) was the continuation of the 37th Battalion for the Great War as part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. After the war, the 114th was demobilised and the 37th re-activated. It was later merged with the 38th Battalion (Dufferin Rifles) of Brantford.
