A Bible translator is a linguist who applies his or her skills to the translation of the Bible or parts thereof into another language. Sometimes they are the first to codify (form an alphabet) for the language, and may also work on concordances and Bible Study materials to accompany their translations. To enable the spread of literacy, Bible translators often extend their work to primers and dictionaries.
