This category and the subcategories under it are managed through cooperation between the Canada Project, the Categorization Project, and the Notables Project.
This category hierarchy is intended to list notable, famous, or historically significant people who were born or worked in British Columbia, Canada. For WikiTree's purposes, a person is defined as "notable" if they have an entry in Wikipedia, The Canadian Encyclopedia, the Dictionary of Canadian Biography, the Canada Heirloom Series, or some similar resource, or if they have been designated as a Person of National Historic Significance, or awarded the Order of Canada, the Order of British Columbia, or some other recognition. For British Columbians who do not qualify as "notable", please use some other appropriate category such as the categories under the Occupations category, as well as location categories for their place of birth and death.
There is also a page for British Columbia Notables, where you can find (and contribute to) a list of people in these categories. That page is designed to help members of the British Columbia Project keep track of people who belong in these categories, whether they have profiles on WikiTree, what needs to be done to complete those profiles, etc.
Note: The Categorization help page asks you to assign the narrowest possible category, so if you can identify a subcategory under this category in which to place a notable who was born on worked in British Columbia, please use it.
