Blythe Ferry was the gathering point for nine of the detachments that made the march during the forced removal of the Cherokees on the Trail of Tears during the winter of 1838-1839. The site is now known at the Cherokee Removal Memorial Park at 6800 Blythe Ferry Lane, Birchwood, Tennessee.
