In the early 20th century, discussions began among many of the Protestant denominations in India, including the Category: Church of India, Pakistan, Burma and Ceylon, the United Church of Northern India, the Baptist Churches of Northern India, Church of the Brethren in India (which subsequently separated again), Methodist Church (British and Australian Conferences), and Disciples of Christ about creating a united Protestant denomination in India. These discussions culminated in 1970 in forming the Church of North India, a united denomination of several Protestant Christian denominations which is in full communion with the worldwide Anglican Communion, World Methodist Council, World Council of Churches, World Communion of Reformed Churches, Council for World Mission, Christian Conference of Asia, Communion of Churches in India, National Council of Churches in India.
