This category contains profiles of persons who perished in this disaster. If you lived in East Central Minnesota, you may have heard or read about the great Cloquet Fire of 1918. It was Saturday 12 October, and the fire also consumed Moose Lake and over 14 other towns and villages, and came very close to threatening Duluth. It killed over 450 people.

There were a lot of young men, who couldn’t help with the fires because they were fighting for the cause in Europe. They called it the Great War (World War I). The day before the fires, Friday , 11 Oct., Duluth City commissioners closed all public places, schools and churches due to the Spanish flu. There were 27 cases in the city of 100,000. A memorial for the victims of the fires was erected at Riverside Cemetery, north of Moose Lake.
