Main Category for Cnut the Great's conquest of England

In 1015, a combined campaign by Norse and Danes in as many as 200 ships led by Cnut (Knut), King of Denmark, invaded England. They campaigned against English forces led by King Æthelred and his son Eadmund Ironside for 14 months. The outcome was a truce agreement resulting in a division of England in which Eadmund, Ironside ruled Wessex in the south, and Cnut held power north of the Thames. Following Eadmund's death, Cnut was crowned King of England in Canterbury.
