- The Duke of Buckingham (Captain W. Turner) is a fine iron-built screw steamer, 2020 tons register, furnished with engines of 270 horse power, extreme length 384ft, breadth 38ft, and depth 28ft. She has four masts and three decks, two of which are iron, and was built at Barrow in 1880 by the Barrow Shipbuilding Company, being registered A1 at Lloyd's.
