This category is for the French departments (départements) which were created on 1 October 1795, when the Southern Netherlands (Austrian Netherlands) were annexed by France.

After Napoleon was defeated in 1814, the department became part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. This territory was split between the Netherlands and the new Kingdom of Belgium after the revolution of 1830.
