Haskell County is located in the Rolling Plains region of northwest Texas. Created in 1858 and later organized in 1885, it is named for Charles Ready Haskell, who was killed in the Goliad massacre. Ranchers George T Reynolds and John A Matthews moved into the area in 1877. The county seat is Haskell.
