The Musin-Pushkins were amongst the families who claimed descent from the semi-mythical Ratsha. Their name-father, Mikhail Pushkin named Musa, lived in the fifteenth century and on 16.ii.1710 the boyar Ivan Alekseevich Musin-Pushkin was elevated to the rank of count.
