Modern Hungary (1989-Present) is a landlocked European nation bordered by Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria. It contains 20 administrative regions: 19 counties (megyék, singular: megye) and Budapest, the capital city.
The 19 modern counties since the reform of 1950 are: Bács-Kiskun, Baranya, Békés, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Csongrád, Fejér, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Hajdú-Bihar, Heves, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Komárom-Esztergom, Nógrád, Pest, Somogy, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, Tolna, Vas, Veszprém, and Zala.
