The males listed below with the same surname belong to the same direct paternal line (as confirmed by Y-DNA matching). Many thanks to John Kingman, Peter Kingman and Gerald Kingman who provided their DNA and made finding this link possible.
Gerald's line is confidently traced to George Kingman who lived in Farrington Gurney, Somerset, England in the early 1700s. Farrington Gurney is 10 miles from Frome in Somerset. George's father was almost certainly Thomas Kingman but this link lacks documentary proof. If correct, then this line extends back to a Henry Kingman who lived in Frome in the early 1600s.
Henry Kingman has numerous descendants in America and they make up the biggest single Kingman family unit there. He emigrated to America in 1634 and is widely believed to have come originally from Frome but without any direct evidence.
This DNA evidence has now firmly placed Henry Kingman's origins, if not in Frome, then certainly in that area of Somerset.
