This section of the Kinsman Name Study is intended for all the bearers of the surname Kinsman who descend from the families of Kinsman originating in and around the area of Totnes (Devon).

It is possible that this is itself a subgroup of one of the larger Kinsman families or Tavistock or Callington, but at the moment this family grouping dead ends (with some tentative links) with a Thomas Kinsman who lived in the Buckfastleigh area of Devon in the late 1600s.

There is a y-DNA project dedicated to the Kinsman surname, details of which can be found on the Kin(g)(s)man Family website. There are currently no y-DNA donors in this Devon Kinsman line.
