Lynn was the last constituted township created in Hardin County. It was taken from Buck, Taylor Creek, and McDonald Townships on 8 Sep 1857. The earliest permanent settler is probably John Canaan. William and Nancy (Hatfield) Haines were probably the second settlers. Other early settlers are Daniel S. Vermillion, William Koons, Edward Wilcox and his brother, Jonathan Wilcox, Clement Rice, Robert Stewart, Henry Albert, and John Gunn.
