Massachusetts

Europeans came to what is now Massachusetts in 1620. The Pilgrims famously landed at Plymouth in their ship, The Mayflower. Their colony became the second in the New World, after Jamestown in Virginia. Massachusetts was admitted to the union on February 6, 1788 as the 6th state to ratify the Constitution. Massachusetts is the 7th smallest, but the 14th most populous and the 3rd most densely populated of the 50 United States. Boston is its largest city and capital.
