Category: Micklethwaite Name Study
This category is part of the Micklethwaite Name Study. Please contact the project leader for more information.
My study is of all people with the name Micklethwaite or one of its variants: Micklethwait, Mickelwate, Mickelwait, Micklewaite, Michaelwaite, Micklewhite. The name is locative deriving from a place of that name, which is derived from the Old Norse Mykkel - large, Tveit - clearing. The place in question is believed to be in south west Yorkshire, and now known as Banks Hall. More details on http://micklethwaite.one-name.net
Only a fraction of the Micklethwaites on this site are listed here - there are problems with the system in adding the category to 500+ existing entries without spending days doing each individually. There are also only a fraction of the Micklethwaites I have on my web site on this site as I have had more problems adding them.
