The 1918-1919 influenza pandemic in New Zealand
Called la grippe and Spanish flu this virus was spread by soldiers retuning from the continent causing a series of outbreaks in waves that affected young adults in particular.

The 1890s to the 1920s in New Zealand were dominated by two main influenza pandemics (1890–94 and 1918), with annual epidemics in between. New Zealand’s worst disease disaster to date is the influenza pandemic of November 1918, which killed more than 50 million people worldwide, and 8,500 in New Zealand.
