Paul Edmond Beckwith (1848-1907) was an American author who published at least two books of his family's genealogy: The Beckwiths (1891) and The Creoles of St. Louis (1893).
The Beckwiths, which has been widely cited, presented fabricated English aristocratic ancestries for several early American settlers named Beckwith. Additionally, General Simeon M. Fox analyzed Paul Beckwith's genealogy of the Mathew Beckwith family of Lyme, Connecticut, and identified significant errors within the American lineages, including several people whom he described as "flagrant inventions."
This category is a location to identify the profiles of people whose biographies and family histories have been affected (or in some cases may have been affected) by Paul Edmond Beckwith's fabrications. "Affected" is the operative word -- listing in this category does NOT mean that the profile itself is fraudulent; hopefully it is listed because the fabrication has been identified and corrected.
