Category: Potter's Hollow-ware Pressers

Categories: Potter's Pressers | Occupations by Name

In industrial pottery making, a presser would press clay by hand into a mould to make the desired shape of pot, as opposed to other possible methods of shaping it like casting (pouring a mix of clay & water into moulds and sometimes spinning them, till enough clay was stuck to the moulds) or throwing it on a wheel. Hollow-ware is rounded, container type pottery like bowls or vases as opposed to fairly flat pottery like plates.
