This is where the Mi'kmaq resided from time immemorial and where they were visited by Jesuit and Recollect missionaries from 1745 to 1773. Ristigouche was first visited by missionaries, then by the priests of Carleton until 1843. Since that year, a minister took care of the mission. The RRs. PP. Capuchins have been in charge since 1894. The parish of Sainte-Anne-de-Ristigouche is included within the limits of the municipality of the township of Mann, which was erected on July 1, 1845.
