PURPOSE/GOALS

Since many of the Roberts were pioneers and travelled from state to state, it can sometimes be hard to find where a person may have went or where they may have been born. Since American families tended to travel in groups, making connections between family members is often the key to finding the previous generation.

For example, while researching my Roberts line in Wisconsin, I met a fellow researcher who informed me that my ancestor had a half sister I had never found in the records. He had letters sent to this women mentioning aunts and uncles in the state of Virginia. Voila! I had a new place to research my family line.

If you would like to help make connections, the best place to start is to put your Roberts family in the proper category.

First, please only add a Roberts profile whose last name at birth was Roberts (no wives who became a Roberts by marriage).

Second, add the location of the Roberts in the following format for example for the United States: County, State, Roberts (click the edit button and look at the formatting of the examples below if you are confused).
